This super print is one of a pair, found by Ron in an art shop in Swindon of all places. It's not specifically FGS — but if pictures like this one don't awaken memories of journeys to and from school, nothing will.

Scroll down to see a very similar scene on a postcard sent by Keith Seddon. This could be the photograph on which the artist based his (her?) painting (although Keith points out that some details of the tramcars are different in the two pictures).

As far as I can tell, the artist's name was Ashley Best. I wish I could paint like that....

Here's Keith's picture postcard, which he found at Stockport flea market. Note the differences — notably the upper deck of the Bolton-bound tramcar. Note also that the artist has tastefully chosen not to include the Gents' urinal that once stood in the middle of the junction.
