  • Born in Penang, Straits Settlements.
  • 1926: Came to Farnworth..
  • 1930-1936: Attended Plodder Lane Council School.
  • 1936-1941: Attended Farnworth Grammar School.
  • Cousin of Ronald Hodson qv; Junior Victor Ludorum.
  • 1941-1943: Worked for Williams Deacon's Bank.
  • 1943-1947: In Royal Navy transferring to Fleet Air Arm.
  • May 1945: Joined 806 Squadron.
  • July 1945: Emperor Hirohito found out
  • August 1945: Hirohito sued for peace..
  • 1947-1949: Qualified as teacher at the College of S.Mark & S.John, Chelsea.
  • Appointed teacher at Harper Green Secondary Boys' School where the School Secretary was Elsie Entwistle qv.
  • 1955-1960: Teacher at St.Peter's Junior School, Swinton
  • Often came home on bus with Denise (Bunty) Elleray qv.
  • 1960-1967: Head teacher at North Meols Banks St. Stephen's School..
  • 1967-1981: Head teacher at Euxton C.E. Primary School..
  • 1979: Suffered cerebral haemorrhage in 1979 resulting in right hemiplegia and retired on medical advice in 1981.
  • 1991 onwards: Started life story on word processor.
  • At present I have done over 200,000 words and have reached 1949.

  • Sadly, Jim passed away on December 11th 2008. He was 83.
