- Left FGS in 1954 (UVb).
- Apart from active service with RMP, spent most of working life in Local Government (Housing) in Bolton, at Corby Development Corporation and finally in Huntingdon.
- Needed a change so left to enter university - 1988 BSc (Hons) Earth Science and Geography from Leicester, also 1988 BA in Mathematics from OU.
- Happily married to Delia with one son (currently at Cambridge University) and living in rural Northamptonshire.
- Still involved in the scout movement (local treasurer) and sport. Officiated at various levels in rugby and hockey, now national umpire for bowls. Secretary of local bowls club.
- Taken an interest in local and ancient history; now carry out research work and assist Delia in giving talks to WI and other similar groups.
