Derek Forman


 

  • My father taught English to Egyptian students from 1927. I was born in Liverpool 3 Nov 1928 and went to Egypt at 3 months. Lived in Egypt until I was 7 when I was left with a guardian (Auntie Mary) in Atherton, Lancs.
  • 1939: started at Leigh Boys Grammar School.
  • 1941: Auntie Mary died and I was transferred to my Uncle Jack (Dr. Elleray) in Little Lever and to FGS. Lived with my girl cousins, Anne & Denise (Bunty) Elleray who also attended FGS
  • 1944: entered VIth form to study History, Geography Latin and subsid. French
  • 1946: Left FGS
  • Eventually took a degree in Physics and Maths and became a teacher of these subjects. Later trained as Chiropodist. 1992; retired from full time teaching to continue with private tutoring in Physics and Maths and part time Chiropody.
  • Have taken up creative writing latterly and hope to publish.
  • I have a daughter, Lynda, and a son, Piers and several grandchildren.
  • After a few failed marriages I have happily settled down in East Sussex with a lovely Scots lady called Margaret.
