- 1955: Started a five-year course in Architecture at Sheffield University.
- 1959: Got married whilst still a student, much to my parents' disapproval. They needn’t have worried, we are still hanging on in there today.
- 1960: Qualified as an Architect and commenced as an Assistant Architect in Nottingham,
working for the County Council. My desk overlooked the square at Trent Bridge,
which was a real bonus.
- 1964: Took up a similar position with Shropshire County Council, living in Shrewsbury.
Intended to move on but the roots got deeper and eventually stayed for the next 29 years.
- 1993: Took early retirement.
- 1997: Left Shrewsbury and moved down to Kent to live near Canterbury
- We had four children between the years 1962 to 1971, eventually adopting two more in 1976 and 1979 ( good for the family allowance ! )
- I have always been a sports fanatic, usually involving a ball of some kind...football, cricket, table tennis, even golf before I saw the light and stopped!
A Trotters fan since a small lad. Played cricket until we moved down to Kent at the
age of 60.
- I enjoy chess and within the past few years have taken up cycling again.
- I still love the jazz music of my younger days —like some others I won’t mention who
contribute ( and run ! ) this website! — and I'm a voracious reader who always has some
book or other on the go.
- Due to my wife's ill-health and disabilities I have been a full-time carer for
her for the past couple of years.
