I first met Bert, and his wife Kath, through the FGS get-togethers at the 'Stocks' about four years ago.*
Bert was quite a sportsman at FGS - he played for the first teams, I believe, at both soccer and cricket. After leaving school he served in the RAF during the war and on returning to "Civvy St." played amateur cricket for Worsley and Farnworth.
He and Kath were also involved in amateur dramatics and were regulars with a local group in Swinton and also the 'Salford Players'
Bert died in hospital on August 29th, 2007. He was 86.
